Traditional Javascript:
var element = document.getElementById("box");
if( element.style.display != 'hidden' ){

}
And replaces it with something like this:
JQuery:
$('#box').toggle();

It's not just pretty, either. Dynamic loading with jQuery's ajax functionality can lower server load dramatically.
