Some of the ways we give back include:
-
Starting the nonprofit ConcordConserves.org in 2007, an online handbook for low-impact living.
-
Offsetting our carbon emissions since 2008 through carbon offsets (TerraPass) and other measures.
-
Developing a marketing campaign supporting Concord’s Bottle Water Bylaw. The first ban on single-serving plastic water bottles in the U.S.
-
Annual donations to One Laptop Per Child, a nonprofit dedicated to delivering laptops to people in developing countries.
-
Donations to the United Teen Equality Center, Concussion Legacy Foundation, Environmental Defense Fund and other causes.
-
Employee-run charity programs such as the Mitten Tree at Christmas, when employees sponsor families through The Wish Project, donating gifts to families in need.
-
Company participation in the town-wide Spring clean-up days, collecting trash along the Nashoba Brook.
Since we're rooted in West Concord (BI’s founder has lived here since the 90s) we have supported several community-based initiatives and nonprofits including Open Table, The Walden Woods Project, Concord Prison Outreach, Umbrella Arts, The Concord Conservatory of Music, The Concord Carlisle Community Chest, Minuteman Arc, and West Concord Green Thumbs.
